I’m Daniel Kanow, a visual and kinetic artist with over 25 years dedicated to creating art that resonates deeply. Mentored by artists like Ted Egri, Robert Weatherford, Ed Carillo, and Ying Li, I learned that truly impactful art is about bringing your authentic self into every piece. Based in Telluride, Colorado, I work across diverse mediums—acrylics, oils, wood, plexiglass, and bronze—using dynamic expression to explore themes of
impermanence, creation, and the beauty of imperfection.
Through Break Through Your Art and the Open Studio 7-Day Intensive, I guide individuals to reconnect with their creativity, crafting art that reflects their unique voice and creative potential. My mission is to help you discover what you are meant to create so that you can produce powerful and meaningful exhibition-worthy artwork.

I enjoyed the intensive workshop. Working on my art while other participants did the same is a great motivational experience. Daniel gives good relevant Ideas on how to improve your artwork. The breakout sessions were helpful. Taking a few minutes to speak with a fellow artist about what you are working on and getting their input on how to improve it, was a great opportunity to get another perspective of my artwork. I recommend trying this way of learning. The encouragement and inspiration one can experience is a positive way to improve your work and to take it in a new direction or to the next level.

"Daniel pushed me, and all his students to go beyond what they felt they were capable of in creating art; he asked us to sit with our creations for longer, to think about them more carefully, and allowed us to find the balance between being bold with the risks we take, having faith in our gut impulses, and being meticulous in each decision that may lead us to."
-Will Roberts
"I believe my artistic voice has started to come out, my style, by creating a technique that flows out of me. It seems to be really improving. The creativity is coming. I am producing work I am proud of. I am producing art that people are really interested in seeing. That really brings joy and excitement."
-Steven Chandler
"I really have developed into a stronger artist because of working with Daniel. When I started working with Daniel, I had major fear and anxiety, and suffered from the white page syndrome. Using the mindset exercises taught by Daniel helped equip me with the tools needed to be a more confident artist. My mark making has become more loose and courageous—my artwork more bold and beautiful."
-Liphus Swindall
"You have literally changed my life and the influence that you have provided will resonate for years to come. I can’t even imagine what I would’ve done instead without the influence that you provided. It has really helped me to access my best self, and it’s so exciting and powerful when I can access such a special thing. You gave me the knowledge that I had a superpower!"
-Beth Peters
"You really helped me to set my analytical process aside long enough to explore this intuitive part and then bring them back together. Working with someone who has a ton of experience like yourself and an outside perspective helps to shed light on things we are missing, like something we are not seeing. When you light up the obstacle, I can see my way through it, and that’s exactly what you did."
-Sara Ward
"Through Daniel’s classes, I learned the vocabulary needed to analyze my artwork and express its significance. Daniel organized and helped me prepare for a solo exhibition. This was an extremely influential moment that helped me gain confidence in my artwork. This experience also helped teach me the skills needed for solo presentation of one’s artwork."
